One of the most exciting Spring events in the past couple years has been the annual United Way of Chester County 5k Color Run! This year's event takes place on May 1st and is sure to bring fun and excitement while raising money for a good cause.

From Daily Local:

Participants can expect excitement with the addition of a helicopter ball drop prior to the race. Numbered golf balls will be dropped out of a helicopter, and the ticket holder whose numbered ball lands closest to the flag will win $1,000. Four additional cash prizes will also be awarded. Balls can be purchased at and will be limited to 1,000 sold.

The event, which is geared to all age ranges, will start with a mass group color throw for a huge color display in the sky. Then, throughout the very flat course numerous color stations will spray participants with a rainbow of neon colors. The race is untimed and is evenly split between walkers and runners. Participants also receive an event shirt and a pair of neon sunglasses with their entry fee.

In previous years the Color Run has sold out- so be sure to register early for this event! Last year $30,000 was raised and organizers are expecting to exceed that this year. They will also be doing a “Helicopter Ball Drop” which will help raise money and add more fun to the event.
